What ex-students in our properties say about us

From me and all my friends who have adored our time at 15 Mayfield Road over the past three years! An enormous, heartfelt thank you for everything. A student house can make or break the University experience- Mayfield Road has definitely made ours.
We will carry the happy memories from our time here forever.  We could not have asked for more attentive, friendly and skilled landlords.
Wishing you all the very best, take so much care and se you around in Bath one day in the near future.

Very big, spacious and well-lit rooms. Alexander and Sharron are reliable landlords, who promptly came and fixed any issue within the house which we communicated to them. You can also ask them any questions you have. They will answer you, so there was no fear of uncertainty — they are happy to communicate and no issue goes unresolved, which is an important strength when renting student housing. I’ve heard nightmare stories before about other student housing, but I am fairly certain that if you rent from Alexander and Sharron, your renting experience will go swimmingly, just as mine did.

All the best and take care, it has been a pleasure knowing you both.

Thank you for being such great landlords! I really enjoyed my two years at 15 Mayfield Road. The house has four spacious bedrooms, which is quite rare for a student house, and the shared spaces are also great with everything you could need. The house is also in a great location, close to shops, restaurants, bus stops, and walking routes. Alexander and Sharron were friendly and reliable landlords who were always quick to help with any issues we had. I would definitely recommend them as landlords (and 15 Mayfield Road!) to any students looking for a home in Bath.

All the best,

I am more than happy to say that “49 North Road is a great home to live in, warm walls, easy and flat commute into uni, 5 minute cycle to a big supermarket and great landlords! Could not ask for a better student home!”

All the best,

Josh Smith, 49 North Road, Combe Down. 2024-2025

I enjoyed my two years at 15 Mayfield Road. The house has four light and spacious bedrooms with a homely kitchen/living room. It was very helpful to have the downstairs loo as well as the large upstairs bathroom. Mayfield Road is a great location close to the Moorland Road shops, U2 bus stop, and a short walk into town.

Alexander and Sharron were very responsive landlords who made sure to resolve any issues quickly. I can recommend them as trustworthy landlords and 15 Mayfield Road as a good student house!

All the best,

For my final year of university I couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable house than 15 Mayfield Road. The rooms were uncommonly spacious for a student house, and it was well presented with lots of natural light thanks to its prime location. It had everything you'd need from a student house, and even a little bit more! The landlords, Alexander and Sharron have been excellent and friendly from my initial inquiry about the property, responding to any issues that arose promptly, and all the way to the check-out process. All-in-all it was a pleasant property with pleasant landlords, and I made lasting friendships with my fellow housemates.

All the best, and I wish you both well,

Edmund Dadge- 15 Mayfield Road. 2023-2024

Our time at 13 Hungerford road has been a pleasurable stay, a wonderful bath terraced house that we could call home for a year. The Landlord was incredibly helpful, with rapid responses and solutions to any issues we faced and providing us with plenty of notice when they would be visiting.

As a first time renter, I have had a great first experience and would highly recommend.

Thank you for all the help this year will the various issues we faced, it has been very much appreciated. I will keep your details to hand for the future, thank you.

Me and my three friends’ experience at 15 Mayfield Road made our second year a joy. To give you an idea: we would wake up every morning in spacious, light rooms with large desks to do our work on and double beds with comfy mattresses. With a big upstairs bathroom and extra downstairs loo, getting ready in the mornings was stress-free. Getting back from uni in the early evening, we would make dinner together in the open-plan kitchen and then lounge on the sofa and chairs or outside in Mayfield’s leafy back garden with a view of the historic city of Bath dappled with dusk light. Add to this experience an ideal location near shops, uni bus routes, parks and countryside - while being just a short walk to town, and we all agreed we couldn’t have found a better house. Our landlords Alexander and Sharron von Tutschek were like guardians away from home, always friendly, practical and on hand to help us. Don’t hesitate: get in touch with them today!

All my best wishes and looking forward to getting in touch early next year,

Elsa Voak, 15 Mayfield Road 2022-2023

My stay at 15 Mayfield Road was very pleasant, with the house being incredibly spacious and having four decently sized bedrooms which is often rare for student houses. The location is also an added bonus with the house being in walking distance to the local shops and bus stops that service different areas of Bath including the University. Alexander and Sharron were also incredibly helpful and resolved any issues we had quickly. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and I would definitely recommend 15 to any students looking for a student house!

Once again, thank you for all of your help and it was a pleasure knowing you!

Best wishes

I have been extremely satisfied living at 26 Alpine Gardens for two years. The house is nicely structured and has plenty of space for three people living there, each with their own double bedroom. The house further has a cosy communal living room, a nice kitchen with good table- and cupboard space, a nice bathroom in good condition, and a small extra room for storage. The house is in good condition, being well aerated and climated with low utility bills. The house has a wonderful view over Bath and is located in a quiet area next to a lovely park. Finally, Alexander the landlord has always been very friendly, respectful and easy to get in touch with.

Tenant: William Ryley- 24 Woodland Grove 2018-2022

Both Alexander and Sharron have been excellent during my 4 years living in one of their houses. They are always accommodating to any needs or requests and will do everything they can to help. The house was far nicer and larger than most other student houses. The house was always incredibly maintained with renovations made most summers when I was away. Alexander and Sharron live locally and were always very responsive. They always made sure that any issues were solved immediately with little disruption. The location of the property is excellent being only a few hundred meters to the university campus. I had an excellent experience renting from Sharron and Alexander and have nothing but great things to say, I would recommend them to anyone!

Thank you both for everything you have done during my stay. If there is anything else you need, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,

William

Hi Sharron,

Thanks - it's been a pleasure having you both as landlords!

I've had a great experience living at 49 North Road. It has the benefits of being located in a more quiet, rural area of Bath, whilst also having easy and quick access to the city centre and university. All the rooms are spacious and homely, and the kitchen / living room area provides a nice place to socialise with housemates.

All the best,

Ben

Dear Alexander and Sharron,

Thank you for your kindness throughout the year. 13 Hungerford Road was incredibly easy to settle in to. Both Alexander and Sharron ensured we arrived at ease and felt welcome. Alexander and Sharron were amazing throughout the year, if there was a problem it’d be sorted ASAP. The location was perfect! So close to Lidl, Victoria Park and Puregym with amazing bus links to Bristol city centre and Bath city centre- although Bath city centre is just a 15 min leisurely walk! I really enjoyed living here!

I was one of the residents of Number 13 Hungerford Road for the academic 2020/2021 year. Our stay in Number 13 was very enjoyable - the house was in very good condition, has a cosy, homely feel (unusual for a student house!), and has 3 spacious bedrooms. It was in a good location too - with Tesco and the bus stop within 2 mins walk. With the house belonging to private and local-based landlords, any problem with the house was resolved within days - not the usual weeks it would be through an agency. Overall, I can speak for my and my housemates when saying I would recommend Number 13.

Thank you to yourself and Alexander for being very helpful over the tenancy and providing a very nice house.  47 North Road is very well equipped and in a great location for the University of Bath, being easily walkable (or cyclable) while also directly on a main bus route. The local shops and pharmacy are conveniently only a couple of mins walk away, as is a bus stop for access to Bath centre. The property is very comfortable, well equipped and maintained to a high standard.

You have both been very attentive, flexible and proactive landlords. I have really enjoyed living at Woodland Grove, it's far nicer than any other student house and incredibly well maintained. The location is obviously a huge benefit and has made my life a lot easier the 2 years I've lived there.  Thank you for everything.

I would definitely recommend renting with this landlord. The landlord has been renting houses to students of Bath university for many years and is very experienced in sorting out any issues tenants may have. Several months into our tenancy last year, our oven went wrong and the landlord and landlady made sure a brand new one was bought and the old one was replaced within a few days. The landlord is very keen to provide an excellent renting service at a competitive price.

For nearly two years, myself and my two housemates have lived in this house. The year before, we lived in the house next door (51 North Road, also owned by this landlord). Both houses are ideal student houses, being a manageable, yet comfortable size to live in. Both houses have three bedrooms, with modern kitchens, bathrooms and boilers. The houses are in kept very good condition, and have been continually maintained and updated by the landlord during the summers whilst we have been at home. The rent is very reasonable and the water bill is included in the fees, which can be paid in three instalments or monthly. The houses have a nice garden area and a bike shed out the back. There is private off-road parking at the front of the properties and a nearby Coop.

Combe Down is a quiet village about two miles from Bath university campus. By bike, being on top of the hill, it takes about 15 minutes to cycle from Combe Down to campus. To walk, it is about 35 min. There are regular buses to campus (20C/20A) and the village itself has a small selection of shops and take-aways. There are regular buses to the city centre, which is also about 35 min walk away.’

‘Two fantastic landlords (independent, not with an agency) who are very attentive and understanding. Very willing to fix problems as they arise. No issues with deposits nor unexpected charges at the end of the tenancy.

Three bedroom property with kitchen, lounge and bathroom. Old-fashioned, very clean and well-furnished. Good-size kitchen with modern fittings and more than enough fridge space for three people. Very powerful shower. No mould nor other issues. Off-street parking for two cars. 30 min walkable to Uni of Bath. 20 min walk to large Sainsburys. Bus connections into town (No. 2) and to and from Uni (20A, 20C). Quiet, peaceful neighbourhood.

Once again, thank you for being brilliant landlords and providing us with a lovely house for a final year in Bath. The year didn’t end as we’d have hoped, but our lovely home in number 26 made everything much easier to deal with. I’ve written a short testimonial below which hopefully you can use on your website if you’d like to.

Alexander and Sharron are fantastic landlords, offering excellent quality student accommodation. They are very approachable and deal with any problems that may arise very quickly. 26 Alpine Gardens is a lovely student house in an ideal location close to the city centre and I’d highly recommend it to any student in Bath looking for somewhere to call home. They take great pride in going above and beyond what many other landlords would consider necessary. They were also incredibly flexible and fair at the time of the corona virus outbreak, highlighting their genuine interest in the wellbeing of their tenants and not just on making a profit. I have no hesitation in recommending them’.

“15 Mayfield Road has been a place I have been fortunate enough to call home for four years, while studying at the University of Bath. The house is very spacious, a luxury for most students coming from University campus accommodation. The house is situated in a great location, close to many shops and takeaways on Moorland Road. It is within walking distance to the town and very close to the bus stops that serve the University. Alexander and Sharron, treat the house as their own and ensure that all the appliances are updated and are of good quality. Whenever there is a problem, they are easy to contact and usually resolve the problem swiftly, which is a benefit of living in one of their houses. Both Alexander and Sharron are very friendly and approachable. I certainly will miss the many great conversations I have had with them on a variety of interesting topics. Note, both are very knowledgeable and you can learn a thing or two from them and that isn’t included in the rent, a bonus if I say so myself. Not many students can say that they have known their landlords on a personal level. I will certainly miss them and 15 next year”.

“I really enjoyed my two years at 13 Hungerford Road! The house is a really nice size for three people and there's plenty of storage space. The heating is good and warm during colder months and the house is generally nice and cozy. There are also less students around than in Oldfield Park so it's usually very quiet. The landlord and landlady are fantastic and friendly - any issues were fixed very quickly and they always informed us if they were out of Bath for any period”.

“Thank you for the wonderful time at 13, I greatly enjoyed my time there. I can quite easily say that it is a very conveniently located house, with great transport links (providing First bus is nice) and close convenience stores. It also has a good kitchen (great gas hob), large rooms and great furniture, and it really felt comfortable and homely”.

“Finally, I just wanted to thank you for your helpfulness and your kindness during these last two years - this was the first house that I rented, and I definitely will remember 13 Hungerford Road fondly”.

“I have been renting from Alexander and Sharron since my second year of University (4 years ago) and with good reason; initially in Combe Down and later in Woodland Grove, the properties are perfectly located to get to Uni without having to rely on the bus service but having access to it if needed. This, coupled with the high quality of the houses themselves and straightforward and human approach to letting offered by Alexander and Sharron from initial viewings through to maintenance and emergencies, I do not think I could have had a better student rental experience and that is a major part of why I stayed with them for so long. I would recommend renting with them to anyone!”

Oliver Holt, 51 North Road, Combe Down. 2015-2019

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at 47 North Road. The house is well-furnished and excellently located to commute to the university by bus, bike, or foot. What few problems arose during my tenancy were dealt with very quickly by the landlords. All in all, I would absolutely recommend renting from Alexander and Sharron, and would gladly do so again myself”.

"It has been a great pleasure to stay in 51 North Road during my second year, while studying at Bath. The university is only a 15 minute cycle ride away, on flat terrain. Combe Down is a nice area and the house is robust and well equipped. Alexander and Sharron are kind, competent and understanding landlords who made our stay trouble-free. Any quandaries  during our tenancy were swiftly addressed proficiently . We will all be looking to rent with these landlords again."

"Staying at North Road was a real home that allowed us easily to get to uni without queuing for buses! The space, local co-op and large park made our lives so much easlier; as well as being the envy of our friends for having convenient parking & a great kitchen. We wouldn't want to live anywhere else".

"Thank you for the past two years at 49 North Road; you have made my first time renting a house a very easy & pleasant experience. It has been incredibly convenient for Uni & Combe Down is a wonderful place to live. Alexander has always been very accommodating, easy to talk to and has always sorted out any problems quickly; so thank you for this".

"It was an absolute pleasure to live at 26 Alpine Gardens; having a landlord who clearly takes a lot of pride in providing quality student housing is very refreshing. For the final years, the house was perfect, we had three large rooms & Alexander was very happy for us to bring our own double beds. When we arrived, the house was spotless, the furniture was all absolutely fit for purpose (two really comfy sofas) & the appliances in the kitchen were all modern. We didn't really have any problems throughout the year but whenever we contacted Alexander, there was always a swift response.

At the end of our tenancy, we had no problems with deposits being returned with the charges for damage that we had caused being very fair (I would say lenient in fact). Overall I would recommend Alexander & Sharron as landlords to anyone & will be telling my brother to get in contact with them when he gets back from placement".

"I found 47 North Road to be a spacious, comfortable and well-furnished house, set in a pleasant location, making it the perfect place to study and relax. It is a short walk or cycle from Bath university, a quick bus ride from the city centre and there is plenty of car parking space outside. I lived at 47 for two years during my undergraduate degree and after a year away I decided to return for another two years when I started working in Bath, as I enjoyed living there so much. Alexander and Sharron are the perfect landlords and are always there to help if needed."

"I spent two comfortable years at 15 Mayfield Road, with very little to worry about. The few issues that did arise were dealt with quickly and without hassle. Alexander and his wife are very friendly and personable, understanding also that students will likely be living away from home for the first time and so offering helpful advice for what should be done around the house. We were given due warning any time Alexander wished to visit the house. Our full deposit was returned promptly".

"I found the landlord very helpful in everything concerning the house, such as fixtures. I was allowed to leave our boxes for summer, which helped to save on storage. The house was of excellent quality all the way through. We even had a hoover already given to us. Never I encountered any problem with the landlord. Alexander was also very helpful when it came to giving references."

"Great spacious house with newly fitted kitchen and bathroom, three good size bedrooms and lounge/social area. I lived in the house for two years whilst I was studying at Bath Spa University and if there were any problems, the Landlord sorted them out very quickly with minimum fuss but maximum efficiency. The landlord is really friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend no.13 as it is a good student house."

Jessica Shoemack. Hungerford Road. 28/09/2013

"The house is in an excellent location for students at the University and a short bus journey from the city centre. The landlord was excellent. For example, when there was a problem with the boiler, the landlord sorted it out immediately. It was great to know that if anything did go wrong, the problem would have been resolved quickly. We made great use of the bike shed, the kitchen was large enough for 3 people and the bedrooms were spacious with plenty of room for storage. I would definitely recommend the house to others."

Leo Westbury. North Road, Combe Down. 27/09/2013

.................................................................................................................

"I stayed at 51 North Road as a student for the last 3 years of my degree and found it to be the ideal location to base myself during my degree. The house itself is well equipped for students wanting a fully furnished setup and has fantastic facilities to securely store bicycles. The house's location surely couldn't be improved for students with a desire to live in a location near the university (within walking distance and a 5 to 8min cycle) but also live in an area with the feel of a village lifestyle and the potential to immediately enter the stunning countryside surrounding Bath to escape the pressures of your degree. In addition to this there is a Sainsbury's just down the road and a Co-op very close by. Probably best of all, the house is situated opposite a massive village green which is great for leisure activities with flatmates.

Provided you take care of the property, you can expect to have a friendly and non-intrusive relationship with the landlord. Since he is interested in cycling he was very helpful in showing me some of the nicest places to cycle locally. Any problems that were addressed to the landlord throughout my tenancy were dealt with promptly or permission to go ahead with repairs granted without issue."

Nicholas Tawn. North Road. 27/09/2013
